I have tried both and with HDMI i can OC my monitor to 74hz and with DVI i can OC it to 66hz. I know niether make a real difference. In your guys past experiences, what do you prefer and why? I know i don't have a 144hz monitor so it may not make a difference.

In terms of HDMI vs DVI I think the usual standard for higher video output is DVI, but I don't have any experience overclocking. DVI-DL vs DP is probably the real competition though, where DP would win I think. I actually recently ordered a 144Hz monitor, so will see the difference early next week. I think it will help a lot.

One guy was yelling me thaat HDMI is a tv standard so that would have less color quality and more latnecy than DVI. But isnt DVI suppose to allow more hz so i would think i could oc it to 74 hz too.

HDMI is a TV standard because by default it transports both audio and video. In the past it had less bandwidth for video (which would affect image quality, but I highly doubt it's noticeable) than DVI, but HDMI 1.4b and higher support 1080p at 120Hz. The issue is HDMI support on the TV/monitor can be limited (most don't support the newer HDMI versions).
The comment about HDMI vs DVI latency doesn't make sense to my knowledge - theoretically the data travels at the same pace, so the only factor in latency is the monitor. If there is any latency difference between HDMI and DVI it should be minuscule beyond consideration.
In terms of OCing, I did find it curious that your HDMI result was higher, but I'm not sure why. I don't know much about monitor OCing.

Yea i m nog the only person who gets the same results with ocing monitors. If you google it, people get the same thing. My thinking is that sense dvi carries only video then it shoulf have les latency then hdmi sense it doesnt have go worry about audio going with it.

I can see how you might think that carrying only video results in less latency, but the actual transfer of audio and video is still separated by bandwidth space. Think of it like two street lanes going in the same direction. The encoding processes of the data should be uniform (there are standards), so the only difference I can think of would be if there is a filter for certain ports (some TVs delay signal for various display and image adjustments), but this shouldn't be an issue with computer monitors unless they're set in some image quality mode.

One key factor to check is the cable length, as a shorter cable will have lower latency.

Also i installing BF3 tosee how that goes. Usually better since its more optimized and better hit reg. If you or anyone wants to play that some time. I am ok with that.

If your HDMI is an old version that could make sense. It's interesting that you seem to notice a visual difference though, at least I don't think I have that keen of an eye. Color difference doesn't make sense to me though...that's probably placebo.

When i use HDMI some features of my monitor are available that are no available with DVI. I have an LG monitor and with HDMI i can change the Black Level from high to low and can not do that with DVI.

I use DP 1440p at 165hz, so I have no opinion on hdmi of dvi anymore.
